FBI Background Check & Apostille Sworn Translation

If you are applying for Spain's Digital Nomad Visa, Non-Lucrative Visa, residency or citizenship, your FBI background check or ACRO police certificate must be apostilled and sworn-translated into Spanish. Background Checks We Translate

FBI Identity History Summary

FBI background checks (IdHS) issued by the US Department of Justice for Spanish visa and residency applications.

ACRO Police Certificates

UK ACRO criminal record certificates for Spanish visa, residency and nationality applications.

State-Level Background Checks

State-issued criminal history records from the US, including apostille certifying state authority.

Other Police Certificates

Police certificates from other English-speaking countries for Spanish immigration procedures.

Apostille and Translation: The Correct Order

Critical: Apostille FIRST, then translate.

The apostille is a certification attached to your background check. It must be applied before translation because the apostille itself contains text that must be translated as part of the sworn translation. Spanish authorities verify that the apostille and its translation correspond exactly. If you translate first and apostille later, you will need a second translation.

Format Requirements for Background Checks

  • Scan in color, high resolution. Ensure all stamps, seals and watermarks are clearly visible.
  • Include all pages. Even pages that appear blank. Do not crop any part of the document.
  • Provide the PDF. If you received a digital version, send the original PDF rather than a screenshot.
